Pindar Oaks wins prestigious award

26th Mar

We are delighted to announce that Voyage’s innovative new Low Secure Hospital, Pindar Oaks secured a win in the Specialist Care category in the prestigious Pinders Healthcare Design Awards. The winners were announced on 25th March at the annual ceremony held at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. The award was officially received by Douglas Quinn, Chief Executive, and other members of the Voyage Team including Philip Chawner, Project Manager, Julie Kilgour, National Development Director and Paul Constable, Group Development Director.

The panel of judges who visited the hospital in February will have taken into account not only the quality and aesthetics of the bricks and mortar, but also how the design meets the needs of the people who will use the building and enables the model of care to be more successfully delivered.

Pindar Oaks is a 32 bed hospital which supports individuals with a learning disability and mental health needs, who need a secure environment, in four separate eight bed units, each with their own communal areas and garden.

Douglas Quinn says, ‘We are absolutely delighted that our Pindar Oaks low secure hospital has won first place in the Specialist Care category of the Pinders Healthcare Design Awards. This service, which opened in July 2009, took several years to plan, design and construct and is a real state of the art facility. Winning the award is a great testament to the hard work of everyone involved in taking the project through from conception to realisation.’
